Welcome to my pages dedicated to woodturning. I started turning in 2001, and try to progress year after year.

• Participation to the European turning days, organized by AFTAB in Arc et Senans (25, France).
• Demonstration about turning of a strange creature in the Saint Galmier (42, France) wood show

Courses with Joseph Deronzier, (Haute Savoie, France), Richard Raffan (Australia), Graeme Priddle (New-Zealand);

I  began by reading several books, and I especially recommend some of them:

• 2 books from Philippe Bourgeat, in French, edited by Planet'Bois ("initiation au tournage", and "le creusage").
      A must for beginners, very clear, and with the famous teaching style from Bourgeat.
• "Woodturning with Richard Raffan". exists in French and English version.
     Very different style, but quite complementary. Black and white pictures.
• Bob Chapman: "Woodturning: a fresh approach".
      For more advanced turners. In English. Box, vessels, bowls, ... . Very nice pictures.
• David Springett: "Woodturning Wizardry", edited by Guild of Master Craftsmen. In English.
      For people appreciating chinese balls and similar type projects.
• Michael O'Donnell: "Turning green wood", edited by Guild of Master Craftsmen. In English.
    As you don't always have dry wood to turn, and as turning green wood is really a pleasure, you need it.
  However, I do not recommend "Decorating turned wood" from the same author. He shows very nice pictures of what he is doing, but the description of techniques used is really limited. More a "look at what I can do" than a "how-to" book.
• And, last but not least, a French magazine: "couleurs bois", published by ATB editions, which includes turning articles. 

On the woodshop side, I have a Wivamac DB1200 lathe, a VM100 Vicmarc chuck and several gouges and hollowing tools. You can have a look at my latest pieces, see some home made tools or follow selected links. On the technical side, you can find how to turn a "trembleur" (wobbler) with all instructions to build a string steady rest, or how to make your woodburning controler from an old PC power supply. Also on the menu, a French/English dictionary for woodturning related words. I have also written several articles about hollowing tools for French woodworking magazine Couleurs-Bois. You can read the one about the Oneway Termite (CB13, 07/2004), another about Kelton scrapers (CB14, 09/2004), and the last one featuring the Woodcut Proforme and Rolly Munro's tools (CB15, 11/2004). Since them I have written many others describing creation of turned (and sometimes carved afterwards) pieces, which are shown in my galleries.
